Page bleed refers to the part of your artwork that extends beyond the final trimmed size of your print job. This extra margin – typically 3mm on each edge – ensures that when your item is cut to its final dimensions, there are no unprinted white borders around the edge.
Let’s say you’re printing a leaflet with a coloured background or full-bleed image. If your artwork stops exactly at the trim line, even a tiny shift in cutting could leave an unsightly white edge. Bleed prevents that by giving the printer a buffer zone to trim accurately.
